I‘m a postdoctoral researcher currently working on the dynamics of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). In my PhD, I combined lab work and mathematical modelling to study the dynamics of phage, including their ability to move AMR genes via transduction. Through this, we gained insight into the dual nature of phage, which are both killers of bacteria, and drivers of bacterial evolution. Interdisciplinary research is the way forward for phage research, but there’s a gap in collaboration between microbiologists, mathematical modellers, and clinicians. If you’re curious about how modelling might help to extend your work further, feel free to reach out!
