in my PhD several projects are running in which we are investigating the role of the gut virome (both eukaryotic and prokaryotic viruses) in IBD patients undergoing a range of treatments. Shortly, in the first project (paper coming out in next weeks) we investigated the gut virome in a large cohort of IBD patients undergoing biological therapies. Secondly, we will investigate the role of the gut virome in IBD patients undergoing fecal microbiota transplantations, and evaluate if we can use the gut virome as biomarker to predict treatment success. Thirdly, we will investigate the skin virome in Hidradenitis Suppurative patients, an extra-intestinal manifestation often occuring in IBD patients.

We are well trained in our lab to perform the wetlab until sequencing, drylab, including bioinformatics using the Flemish Supercomputer Center for dealing with big data, as well as data analytics in Rstudio and basic python.

I am currently near the end of the PhD (next year) and was looking around for any potential postdoc opportunities, preferably within a similar area. Hopefully I can find some connections this way!
