My PhD focuses on isolation and characterisation of phages infective for important clinical and industrial pathogens. This includes TEM imaging, DNA extraction and library preparation for sequencing (MiSeq), and assembly and annotation of phage genomes.

With Covid-19 stay at home orders I completed a lot of phage phylogenetics and genomics work from home and have experience using various bioinformatic software.

I also work on trying to genetically manipulate these phages utilising CRISPR to knock-out unwanted genes such as integrases and knock-in fluorescent protein for the development of a novel prototype phage biosensor.
