University of Alabama; Hatoum-Aslan Lab

I started my graduate work with isolating new phages. Later, I developed and standardized a method for editing lytic phages using CRISPR-Cas10 system. For past couple of years, I have been studying Phage-host interaction and found a novel immunity mechanism mediated by a single multifunctional enzyme. Before joining Hatoum-Aslan lab, I worked as a researcher at the Center for Food and Waterborne Diseases, icddr'b, Bangladesh. At icddr'b, I worked on Molecular ecology of V. cholerae, and role of Bacteriophages in their genetic evolution. I will be graduating soon and looking for potential Postdoc position. Since I am very much passionate about Phage, I want to get acquainted with other passionate people around the world.
