Miguel Barreto Sanz

Dr. Miguel Barreto is an entrepreneur and data scientist in the field of life sciences. He co-founded in 2013 SimplicityBio (a company active in biomarker discovery and acquired by Precision Medicine Group) and now he is starting a new company Phages4A (active in the prediction of phage-bacteria interaction for the treatment of infections of bacteria resistant to antibiotics). Born in Colombia, Dr. Barreto studied Electronic Engineering. In 2005 he moved to Switzerland with an scholarship of the Suisse government to make his Ph.D at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Lausanne. He is a seasoned data scientist with 15 years of experience in academic and industry projects. This background give him a perfect vision of the data science landscape and he apply this vision directly to business. His leadership has been rewarded with the “Venture leaders prize (2015)” and to be elected for the Magazine L’Hebdo as one of the 100 people that will build the Switzerland of tomorrow (2015).
