The ZHAW BPT Lab performs applied R&D on biotechnological production processes, especially for the biopharmaceutical sector, including phages & phage therapy. Our specialty area is in upstream bioprocessing, where we use the full portfolio of modern, QbD- and PAT-based concepts to design safe, standardized and performant bioprocesses carried out in GMP-compliant equipment. We are looking into the physiology of the host/phage interaction as an important parameter to optimize yields in phage production. We support with expertise in the cultivation of different, also non-conventional, bacterial host organisms of BSL1& & BSL2. We aim at creating platform technologies that can be applied to different phage/host combinations.
