Tomar's lab is a molecular virology and structure biology lab. Recently Tomar's grp has initiated a bacteriophage project to develop effective strategy to control and prevent multidrug-resistant bacteria keeping ESKAPE (Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacter species) microbes on top. Group is working on isolation and characterisation phages from Ganges river and waste water sites (contaminated with MDR bacteria). Testing of phage sis done on MDR clinical isolates in collaboratoration.
