UK launches the AI Biosecurity Lab with government and company funding

The UK government announced the AI Biosecurity Lab on 24 October 2026, with £100 million of government funding and up to £200 million in company commitments from OpenAI and Anthropic, to build technical capabilities to understand, prevent, detect and respond to biological threats.
