The phage field has seen mixed results using phages to treat oral pathogens. Sabrina Green (Baylor College of Medicine) and colleagues have uncovered new reasons behind why some phages may be particularly well-suited for gut pathogen targeting. They published a new preprint characterizing a phage that specifically binds gut mucin to help itself better target its hosts. Sabrina also wrote a great Twitter thread taking us through her findings!
