T4 bacteriophage-based artificial viral vectors for human genome remodeling

Nature Communications paper that builds artificial viral vectors (AVVs) from bacteriophage T4 components: a 120 × 86 nm capsid shell that holds 171-Kbp DNA and thousands of protein copies is loaded with DNAs, proteins, RNAs and ribonucleoproteins and coated with cationic lipid to enter human cells. As proof of concept, AVVs were assembled to deliver the full-length dystrophin gene or to perform genome editing, recombination, replacement, expression and silencing.
