Plasma-activated water pre-treatment enhances phage activity against Proteus mirabilis biofilms (Biofilm)

Researchers at Queen's University Belfast and University College Dublin found that combining cold plasma-activated water with phage vB_PmiS_PM-CJR reduced biofilm-embedded Proteus mirabilis cells by about 4 log, as a possible option for catheter-associated urinary tract infections. Exposing the biofilm to plasma-activated water before the phage worked better than the reverse order.
