Phagos builds AI models to match phages to bacterial strains, supported by the AWS Generative AI Accelerator
Paris startup Phagos, founded by microbiologist Adèle James and economist Alexandros Pantalis, is building AI models to predict which phages work best against a given bacterial infection, with embedded AWS engineers through the 2024 AWS Generative AI Accelerator Program. Its first tests, at a French oyster farm, showed a 40% reduction in mortality in infected oysters; it has since expanded to shrimp, chicken, bovine and swine, and currently focuses on animal health.
