Neutrophils are not a major determinant of intravenous phage clearance in mice (bioRxiv preprint)

In this preprint, intravenously administered antipseudomonal phage LPS-5 had blood half-lives of 3.45 and 3.66 hours in wild-type and neutropenic mice, suggesting neutrophil phagocytosis is not a major driver of phage clearance. A gap between qPCR and plaque-assay levels over time points to functional inactivation of circulating phages by circulating factors.
