Large-scale genomic characterisation

Satheesh Nair (UK Health Security Agency) and colleagues published a new paper on genomic characterization of phage-plasmids in Enterobacteriaceae, showing these elements are present in 9% of E. coli/Shigella and 2% of Salmonella genomes, often carrying antimicrobial resistance genes and virulence factors like cytotoxic necrotizing factor in clinically relevant lineages.
