James Doub (University of Maryland School of Medicine) and colleagues published their successful eradication of a 72-year-old man's prosthetic joint infection with phage therapy, which was done alongside Adaptive Phage Therapeutics and the US Naval Medical Research Center. Of note, the phage appeared to cause unusual effects on the patient's liver, pointing toward a need for clinical trials to optimize the dose of phage therapy and better understand its effects on the body.
