It was a great week for microbiology; Nobel prizes were awarded for discovering CRISPR-Cas (Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna) and Hepatitis C (Harvey Alter, Michael Houghton, Charles Rice). The phage field should be especially proud of the countless phage researchers who have contributed to the understanding of CRISPR (and the phages that made it possible!). Here's to all who have contributed to these remarkable bodies of understanding, which we all get to continue exploring!
