Could destroying phages after they've found their target help make phages work more like drugs? In a new PNAS paper, Huan Peng (UC Santa Barbara) and colleagues describe how they've conjugated phages to gold nanorods, which can "cook" nearby bacteria and destroy the phage at the same time.
