Emily Armbruster (University of California San Diego) and colleagues published a new paper on sequential membrane- and protein-bound organelles in phage infection, showing chimalliviruses use two organelles - an early membrane-bound vesicle and a protein-based nucleus - to compartmentalize their genomes during infection.
