DepoRanker: a machine-learning web tool to rank phage depolymerases against Klebsiella

George Wright, Slawomir Michniewski, Eleanor Jameson and Fayyaz ul Amir Afsar Minhas describe DepoRanker, a machine-learning algorithm that ranks proteins by their likelihood of being phage depolymerases targeting Klebsiella capsular polysaccharides. The arXiv preprint (27 January 2025) reports that it outperformed BLAST and was experimentally validated on five newly characterised proteins; it is available as a web server and open-source software.
