Benchmarking tools for identifying phages in metagenomic data

The authors benchmarked ten phage identification tools using artificial contigs, a four-phage mock community, and simulated viromes. DeepVirFinder had the highest F1-scores on the artificial contigs and mock community (0.98 and 0.61); most tools recovered similar alpha and beta diversity patterns, while Seeker differed significantly.
